Please note: The new integrations function is still in beta, but can already be used. If you would like to use the Slack integration, please contact our support.
The timr Slack integration makes it possible to connect timr with Slack. This provides you with the following functions:
-
start/stop the timr time tracking directly via Slack
This function allows you to start/stop your working time directly in Slack (see Commands in Slack). -
Employee status info
Similar to the Presence Board, the attendance status of an employee is displayed directly in Slack. If you want to write to a colleague, you can immediately see whether they are currently working or not. You can also see whether the employee is in the office, working from home or travelling (see Status in Slack).
We're looking forward to any feedback e.g. whether the integration is helpful or which functions you would still like to see!
4. How to revise who has already setup the Slack integration
1. Setup
Step 1: Activation of the integrations in your account by our support team (if not already done).
Step 2: To add the Slack interface, click "Add" under Administration/Settings/Integrations and then select the Slack integration from the available integrations.
Step 3: The Slack integration now appears in the integrations. Select "Add to Slack".
Step 4: You will now be redirected to grant timr the authorisation to interact with Slack. If you use multiple workspaces, make sure that the correct workspace is selected.
If you click "Allow", you will be redirected to the timr login page. If you have successfully logged in there, you will receive the following message: "You can close this tab now, everything is done."
Step 5: Execute for each employee: Each employee must connect their Slack user to timr independently. This is done via the following command, which the employee types anywhere in Slack: /timr connect
2. Commands in Slack
If you switch to Slack, timr will appear under "Apps" after a successful connection (marker 1). You will also see in the dialogue that Slack is connected to timr (marker 2).
You can now use timr directly from Slack with the help of certain commands.
- /timr start working: You can use this command to start the working time. After you have selected the appropriate working time type, Slack triggers the recording in timr. The status is automatically adjusted and appears next to your name (marker 3). You can also add a message to your status such as how long you will be available today (marker 4).
Note: Slack recognises automatically either an active record or the start of a record and adjusts the status accordingly. A change of presence time is also recognised automatically.
- /timr stop working: The working time is stopped and the duration of the booking is displayed in Slack. The status is automatically reset.
- /timr disconnect: You can use this command to disconnect.
- /timr connect: You can use this to re-establish the connection. If you press the "Connect" button, you will be redirected to the authorisation release, see Setup step 4.
3. Status in Slack
The employee's presence status is automatically displayed in Slack. A separate emoji is displayed depending on the selected subcategory of attendance time:
You can also add a message to the status, for example "until 5pm" so everyone knows how long you will be available today.
4. How to revise who has already set up the slack integration
In order to use the integration in the best way and to ensure that the team members can rely on the status in Slack, it is important that all teem members use the integration.
Although the integration has to be set up by each employee itself, the administrator of the Slack workspace can view the information on who has already connected timr to Slack and who has not.
Proceed as follows:
1) Open the timr app bot under "Apps" in Slack.
2) Click on the timr logo on the top.
3) Click on "Configuration". Now the Slack App Directory opens in the browser.
4) Now click on "See all" to get an overview who has authorised the timr app and when, and to find out which team member is still missing.
