time tracking with timr is focused on tracking your time directly while you're at work. To track your time you're using a start-stop system. It's like a digital stopwatch. Of course it's also possible to edit time entries or to enter a record at a later time.
1. Immediate project time tracking
Using start-stop for tracking your time has many advantages. You'll have all your hours recorded immediately and as accurately as possible. This way you can't forget anything and you also don't have to enter records manually after work.
This short video will give you an overview of the most easy way to track your time.
2. Immediate project time tracking on your smartphone
When you're on the go you can track your time via app on your smartphone. timr apps are available for all platforms. The timr iOS and Android Apps are even offline apps.
In this documentation we'll demonstrate how immediate project time tracking is done with the timr iOS app. The general workflow is the same for all timr apps.
2.1. Start recording
In order to track time for customers, projects or other tasks tap on "Start Project Time".
Marker 1: You can choose the Task for which you want to record time.
Marker 2: If you are authorized to, you can edit the Start Date and Time before you start the running recording.
Marker 3: You can add your notes for this Project Time Recording here.
Marker 4: Define here if this Project Time Recording is billable.
Marker 5: Press "Start" to start the Project Time Recording.
Basically we recommend to edit your tasks in the timr web application because it's much more comfortable to do this in the web app than on the go.
However, if you're on a business trip or at a costumers site and you need a new task, you can use the "Add" (+ Symbol on the top left side) screen to immediately create a new task on the go.
3.2. Stop recording
This is an example for a running Project Time recording. By pressing on this running project time recording you can pause, stop or delete it.
Before you stop the recording (marker 6) you can take notes or edit the recording.
Marker 1: You can edit the task and for example choose another task for which you want to track this time entry.
Marker 2: If you have permission, you can edit the End Date and Time before you stop the running recording.
Marker 3: If you have permission, you can edit the break time. For example: You've forgotten to pause during lunch and so you can add your breaktime now.
Marker 4: You can add notes. For example, you want to note some information for this project.
Marker 5: If you have permission, you can define if the time is billable.
Marker 7: You can switch to another task with one click.
Marker 8: You also have the possibility to delete this entry. Furthermore you can pause the recording if you have the permission.
Note: If you don't see the field for break time and you don't have a Pause button, manually pausing a recording isn't allowed for your timr account.
3. Manually adding project time
In case you forgot to track your time, you can also manually add time entries at a later time.
3.1. Manually adding project time in the web app
In order to add project time manually, go to "Recording" (Marker 1), in the tab "Project Time" (Marker 2). Click now on the button "Add Project Time" (Markierung 3).
Choose the task (Marker 1) for which you want to track time afterwards and insert a short note (Marker 2) for this project time entry. timr suggests you always automatically to add 30 minutes. The start/end date and the start time are always the end date and the end time of the last tracked project time entry. You can edit the date and time (Marker 3) and the duration (Marker 5) is calculated automatically. Insert a break (Marker 4), define if this project time is billable (Marker 6) and click "Save" (Marker 7).
You can enter the time and the duration in almost any form. You'll find all related details in the guide about time and date format.
3.2. Manually adding project time on your smartphone
In the timr App you can add records later on, if you have the permission to do so. You can do this via the + symbol in the recording menus. If, for example, you've forgotten to book project time for a client while you were out of the office you can do this at a later time.
4. Edit time entries
It's possible to edit time entries if you have the right to do this. You'll find further info in our documentation about editing project time entries.
5. Reports and analysis
The tab "Project Time" in the "Reports" menu shows the tracked tasks/projects. You can filter all tasks/projects according to various criteria (time period, user, task, etc.) and print reports. "Print/Export" offers you diverse file formats.
6. Configure email notifications
You can setup an email notification which users will get if their timr is still running after a certain time. To do this enter your personal settings menu.
